Hacknot – User Is A Four Letter Word

Interesting read for us Interns me thinks. Especially as to how a ‘user-focused’ approach impacts software development.

Perhaps the most common ploy of the passive aggressive user is procrastination. When asked to participate in interviews or submit to any demand on their time, the user offers only perfunctory compliance, complaining that they just can’t find the time to put in greater effort, given the demands of their existing duties. They know that if they demur frequently enough, you will probably stop assigning them tasks altogether.

My this situation sounds mighty familiar. Could be the reason my code’s been sitting in the pre production environment for more then a week, only to have the users tell me, on the very same day that I’m supposed to get the Requirements Document signed off no less, that there needs to be some amendments to the logic and documentation.

And no, this is not the first time such as happened. I’m ranting. I know. Sue me.

Bee Z

Such are my weekdays.

If there’s 1 thing I hate about ITP, it’s the having to apply for leave.

Makes me feel bad.

Don’t know if applying for one to go back and help run the (VS) Sec 1 Registrations again this year will affect my grades for ITP. (Anything other then an A and I’m royal-ly screwed).

Haiz.

Finally

Its finally happened.

After such a (seemingly) long time.

I fell asleep on the bus on the way to work and had to walk back 2 stops.

And JE finally met the family too. =)

Early dismissal

Its been the 3rd consecutive day that I’ve left the office before 7. Lets see how long I can keep this up.

But yeah, Its not like i’m slacking or anything. Did some debugging today to get a project that I’ll be working with compiled. Wanted to setup IIS and hook it up nicely before I left but alas, I didn’t.

The reason for that? IIS was not displaying ASPX pages, instead throwing a 404 error. I WOULD HAVE troubleshoot-ed it on the spot (and probably fixed it while I was at it) but alas, no internet == no Google.

So I went home, researched the problem and now I’m ready to fix it. But I can’t. Because the desktop is in the office.

So brilliant right?
