because you closed the program and the connection is cut, so the download stops because it requires the connection?

Js: My ISP cut my connection when I turn off my com, maybe they wanted to save power.
Wm: I went shitting, that why.

Correct Ans:
During a shutdown, the OS terminate any process that is currently running. Thus an svchost program got terminated and the download stops. If you using Opera, you can resume your download. If you prefer Download Accerelator, it provide better GUI and download speed that any other program that Felix is able to do so. Hehe.
My take: cos life just so =P
