Badminton Finals: 25th Feb

As promised, the date of the badminton finals: 25th Feb 2005.
C Div is fighting for the Championship title, B Div fighting for 3rd place tomorrow (24th Feb).

Sorry for the late notification, but wanted to wait for the outcome of todays semi-finals before posting. Not that I didn’t have confidence in the ‘C’ Div. The ‘B’ Div… Dissapointing. Shall leave it as that.

C Div did a wonderful job though, as I’m sure everyone watching will agree. Perhaps the only thing that I have to say is about the 2nd Doubles, Kelvin and Willard (spelling?). They seem to adopt a totally different poise when they enter the court. During training, they are fine, but once they face their opponent, hmm.. weird.. cold feet perhaps?

Though I guess I can understand, theres a lot of pressure, both internally and from Coach and the rest. Haha.. Can still remember the very first singles match I played.. It was against Corral Sec, my legs were shaking even more than they were when I was giving my election speach..

Ok. Gotta get back to work, all those who are reading this, 25th Feb. BE THERE! You can’t run, I have your IP Address.. :D

24 Hours : It just ain’t enough

Yupp. 24 hours a day is simply too short. As of late especially, with one more client to satisfy, i guess Jonaize is growing. But sadly that growth is slow. Hopefully my namecards will be done soon, *hint*hint* and then I can start promoting Jonaize more aggressively.

But then again, to be more aggressive than I already am, I need some capital. And no, I can’t just walk into a bank and request for a loan, hell I can’t even register Jonaize till i’m 21. Youth Entreprenurship my ass.

As in really, I think the goverment doesn’t trust us teens enough. In the mass media, they wear their oh-so-formal looking suits and ties and try to tell us that their ‘children are the future of Singapore’ and ‘Teens voices must be heard’ and more empty words yet they go ahead and put in place more red tape, making it harder for teens to do anything. Even the minium age for getting a driving license has been increased.

Whats next? You can’t own a house till your 30? While I understand that some of these red tape help to protect society as a whole, I think that they should at least give teens more responsibility.

I just realised I’ve digressed from the main point of this post by quite a bit, so lets get back on track.

24 hours. 1 day. It’s not enough.

Lets breakdown my typical weekday….

Total time in a day: 24 hours.
Wake up at: 11am
Web Design while having lunch till 3.30. Leave for Work.
Work till 9.30. Reach home at 10.30.
Check mail, read web design / programming related articles will 12.
Develop Apps for Sites till 4. Workout and read till 5-6. Sleep

And I’m still behind in my training schdule. Why didn’t God make longer days?

Went for training yesterday. And the very first match I played was with ‘The 3 Musketeers” (Jarod, Collin and Xuanhan). I call them such as they are the 3 singles that get points during tournaments. (If you don’t know what that means, It means they are bloody good).

So yes. I had a match against them. Not one of them, not 2 of them, but all 3 of them. Back to back.

Was leading Jarod 8-3, then decided to conserve more energy for the next matches. BAD idea.. Lost..

Then came Collin, being as tired as I was at that time, its needless to say that I was no match for his speed.

Finally came Xuanhan. Last of the 3, so juz spent all my remaining energy on the game. Managed to scrape a win.

The FORCE Beckons

Thats right ladies and Victorians, the Great Force beckons. Appearing every year, the Force builds its strength upon the fear of young, innocent 16 / 17 year olds.

And this year being the ‘dragon baby batch’, boy is the Force strong. Barely a week before ‘The Day’, its presence is felt strongly by all, and it will only get stronger as ‘The Day’ approaches.

So go forth, live life normally, for in a week, the rest of your life (and mine) will be handed over to us. In a little slip of paper with a number on it. Something so trivial, yet is sure to greatly stir up your emotions.

Payday!

Ok. Relatively long post, pls bare with me.

Life:
Got my first check from VS today for working @ the hostel. Came up to just over $500. WHEE!! I’m a happy puppy.. :D

Badminton:
Went back to support again, Ngee Ann was smart. They read our lineup well, and thus took all the matches. The matches were hard. Seriously hard.
Though I’m glad to see the team (B Div) fighting hard, showing true Victorian Spirit. We might have lost the game, but if the team carries on like this, we will win the war.

VS:
Popped by the PB Room before badminton to collect the invites for invest (yes Farand, I’ve finally collected it. :). Sorry for the delay) and got pulled to help recreate the flash actionscript I used for last years invest. Almost forgot how to code it. Oh well, time for a refresher in Actionscript..

Had a nice chit chat with Mansoor, Zul and Han Teng about the board, what has changed, and the future of the board. Very insightful into what was going on, and I hope their batch, or at least the next batch, can build upon the ups and downs that the previous batches have been through.

Had lunch in the canteen. Haven’t had lunch there on a school day for a long time. Was watching the Victorians walk past the canteen, a usual action for myself when still a student in VS, but now, it brings a whole different meaning.

I realised that soon, the Victorians walking there will walk there no more, as they move on. Then I look at myself, I’m in school (as in School excluding the hostel) so often that the novelty of ‘returning to VS to catch up with whats going’ seemed to have worn off.

Every time I blog about VS, I get this feeling that I just cannot explain. Then again, I’m not surprised.
