Do The Brave and Honorable Die Young?
Hmm. Just watched Season 2, Episode 2 of The Apprentice and I’m having that split mind feeling when your mind just does not seem to want to come to a solid and sound decision.
Ok, Bradford had immunity which he gave away (nobility or stupidly, up to you to decide) and so he was brought into the boardroom. In a surprising turn of events, he was fired. Woah.
Out of the 4 ppl in the boardroom, I felt that the person most like me in terms of thinking was Bradford. He already had immunity and thus was free to move on to the ‘next round’. But he decided to waiver it on the grounds that he was willing to take the risk and did to be part of the team and not set apart, and the payoff (if successful) was that his teammates would have a greater sense of respect for him.
And all this earned him 2 words from Trump. “You’re Fired”
Seriously, if I were in his situation, I would have done the same, to put my ass on the line for the betterment of the team, not so much as to gain respect but more so to make sure I would not be set apart.
This has been my leadership style in the various leadership positions I have held in VS. That is to ensure that the people spearheading the organisation / board / team would not be seen as someone “big and ‘in-charge’” but rather as one united unit, moving together towards the goal as ONE.
So when the people who were technically ‘under me’ (I really hate using that word, so I’ll be using ‘teammates’ from now on).. So when we accomplished something, when all is said and done, my teammates would look at each other and proclaim, “We did this ourselves”.
And so that was my leadership style, allowing my teammates to grow to their own capacity, letting them run the board / team as if it were their own to show them that although i was their Department Head / Captain, it did not mean that I was better then them.
I never really paid much attention or thought to it until now. Until Bradford got fired for this leadership style. So now I think to myself, did my teammates benefit from the way I led? More importantly did VS benefit? Perhaps the answer is tangible, perhaps not. I can only hope that both my teammates and VS did benefit.

The Discipline to Achieve
Just downloaded a copy of the IPPT Booklet from the MIW site which details what is expected of us for IPPT and also a “Personal Trainer” Guide to to training to get a Gold for IPPT.
So I’m going to start training (read: TRY to start training) more specifically for IPPT. I already have got myself into a regular routine of doing about 30 and 15 push ups @ 1am and 3am respectively, and also a set of crunches just before I sleep.
The real problem is my 2.4 timing. In which I think even a crippled dog can complete faster than I can. And as much as I try, I never seem to be able to find time to train. Or perhaps its just me trying to procrastinate. Oh well, so here we go, starting tomorrow, I’ll be training for IPPT.
Lets see if I have the discipline to keep it up.
RSS Feed Generator Take 2
Ok. The post got processed just fine and so did the RSS Feed. But I
forgot that the date needs a RFC compliant date, so as such, i’m now
changing the date format of my posts from post number 30.

RSS Feed Generator Test
Ok. Been coding a RSS feed generator for my blog. Just finished integrating it and now i’m testing it out. If all goes according to plan, you should be able to see this post and an XML file would be written by the same script that wrote the database of blog posts.
*crosses fingers and prays*
Additionally, the Badminton ‘C’ Div boys are having a tournament 2molo in VS. All the best guys, I’ll be there supporting you all the way.

As 1 door closes, another opens
“As one door closes, another one opens” goes the timeless phrase.. I’m changing it to fit the 21st Century: As one problem is fixed, another one develops…
Yupp.. Allow me to elaborate. For the past 3 months or so, I’ve been living with my CDRW drive for burning and reading CDs while my CDROM sat quitely below it, unable to scan the surfaces of any CD I gave it to read..
So today I finally got motivated to swap the CD drive off another unused computer that I had lying around.. Its an old Creative iNFRA1800 which I could control with a remote provided I actually possessed the remote..
So I lay both computers side by side, fall-in style, and took each apart, and swaped the CDROM drives. After much tweaking and fiddling, I managed to get it to work. Ah.. happiness.. So I closed the case, arranged my cables neatly, and went back to life with a functioning CDROM drive.
I just tried to read a floppy disk. And Wonders of Wonder! My floppy drive now refuses to work.. As one problem is fixed, another one develops…
Heck, I’ll swap the Floppy Drive when I need to use it. Ignorance is bliss.. Anyone want a disfunctional 3 1/2 inch Floppy Drive?
