Of times past..
Yet another year goes by, and I feel like i’m back where I began. Walking down the long and winding road all over again. But this time its different. This time I’ve got my best friends by my side. And that makes a difference.
To all those I know, and more so all those whose friendship I hold dear, thank you for walking this journey with me. Be in since Primary 1, be it since Sec 1 or be it since Sec 3. It does not matter. What matters most is that you guys have been there for me, and I can only hope I have been there for you too.
I’ve made so many wonderful friends over the past years that I have come to respect, appreciate and treasure. Friends like Farand, Gary, Cher Li, Firdaus, Izzat, Alvin Lim, Roy.. The list goes on.. Thank you.
Likewise, the past few years have been very trying, and even more so, rewarding. Growing stronger, more experienced and hopefully into a better person. Through planning and buying logistics for camps, taking the crap when my juniors leave the hall dirty after training and also through the day to day incompetencies, I’ve learnt things about myself that I never knew.
There were the tough times, mugging for O’Levels, watching the badminton team fall apart during tournaments and even getting disappointing results for my Prelims. But I treasure the experience all the same.
Then there were the good times, going through camps (about 8 level/major camps in all and soon to be 9), training till I could barely feel my legs, and of course painting the wall, the grand finale of my VS life.
The Wall Project was far from easy. The project was filled with obstacles from the very start right up till we painted the last part. From getting approval to setting up the structure, from worrying about the rain to getting all our logistics handled, I look back and can’t help but feel amazed that we did it. It was only possible through the teams’ dedication, persistence, passion and most importantly faith in the project. Whatever you can do, or dream you can, BEGIN IT. We began it; and did it.
There are many mistakes that I’ve made in my life thus far. And its as certain as the sun rising every morning that I will make more in the years to come. But I would never want to go back and change those mistakes. They made me who I am. And I am thankful for that. As for the mistakes I’ve made, come on! This is a public blog, what do you think I am? Dumb?
But yeah.. Time has flown past so fast. Too fast in fact. Very soon we will split up. As quoted from Sunscreen, “Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on.” I hope we can keep in touch.
