CSS Blues

For years I have decided to pick up advanced CSS to replace table based layouts ( ok fine, since sec 3.. happy? ). So I have. Completed ( more or less ) learning advanced CSS techniques a few days ago and decided to take the plunge and design the site for CO using CSS positioning.

So everything was going smoothly and CSS offered much advantages over table based layouts and then *WHAM*. I encounter the blasted footer problem where I need to put footers on every page. Problem is that there are 2 ways of doing it. Wait. Isn’t that GOOD?

Well, its NOT when one solution means that your footer doesn’t show in IE but works beautifully in ALL OTHER BROWSERS and the other solution works in IE but screws up ALL OTHER BROWSERS!! Hell, No choice but to go back to table based layouts. Total development time lost : 2 hours. And I would have done the table based one in like 10 mins.

I swear if I had US$53 billion I would buy over MS and close down their sorry asses.. And ONLY AFTER that would both the software market and web standards be able to progress..
